As an international student studying in Australia at Australian College of Studies [ACOS], it is important that you fully understand your rights and responsibilities — meeting the minimum standards of academic performance, attendance and behaviour along with the conditions of your student visa.
Education Services for Overseas Students [ESOS] Act 2000 sets out the legal framework and required standards ACOS must uphold as a provider of quality education and training. This includes safeguarding the integrity of the Australian Government’s student visa regulations and delivering to you a quality vocational certificate course or diploma which is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students [CRICOS].
ACOS also follows the regulatory framework of the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 [National Code] and provides streamlined placement, tuition and financial assurance under the legislated structure of the Tuition Protection Service.
Our Students Support Centre will be on hand to offer assistance and mentoring with your transition into student life and culture.
Our campus offers students the key to Parramatta, a vibrant commercial city within Sydney’s greater metropolitan area.
If you earn income through part-time employment, you will need to secure an Australian Tax File Number and pay income tax.
Articulation pathways guarantees the shortest route to completing your degree. Gaining credit and recognition of prior learning will save you money and may reduce the time it will take to complete your degree. If you’ve completed a Certificate IV, or higher qualification with ACOS, you may be eligible to enter into a university degree with credit for your prior studies.
Before you submit your visa application, ensure you have required documentation including a Confirmation of Enrolment [CoE].
As an international student, you are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover [OSHC] to help cover your medical costs.
All students studying in Australia are required to have a Unique Student Identifier [USI], a unique reference number registered with a learning institution.
ACOS is bound by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 [NSW], which protects your rights as a student studying in Australia.
This means that we only collate your information to facilitate your enrolment application, for ongoing academic assessments and student support services, or the exchange of information from another learning institution. In rare circumstances, we may also be required to disclose your details to the Department of Home Affairs [formerly the Department of Immigration and Border Protection] and other government agencies, or send you marketing material tailored to your specific needs. This content will be handled by a third-party marketing organisation in which you have the option to opt out.
Our Admissions Team will be pleased to discuss any of the policies in greater detail.
